Unity 2D Experimental!

I didn’t know where to post this so I chose the Unity subgroup. Anyway … I was just taking a quick look at Unity as I was up early couldn’t sleep properly from the heat - and I saw this thing called Unity 2D Experimental it it totally blew me away. This thing if it ever goes into full production mode is going to totally revolutionize Unity in the 2D realm. It’s currently in beta so here’s hoping. From the look of it it is going to have features that GameMaker used to have in it, but, I found that software to be buggy and had numerous problem.

I can’t seem to find much on it at all in the way of tutorials, so, it hard to get a grasp on what it does exactly, but, it’s a major step up on the existing 2D toolset.

I saw these demoed at the Unity showcase in Brisbane last year. Amazing features but they seem to be taking their sweet time putting them into release.

As in Bris Vegas in Australia?

That’s the one yep

Didn’t know there was anyone else here from Oz - my brother lives in Brisbane. From just reading the forums at Unity, I was getting the impression that things were moving really quickly with these tools, so, it’s good to get a differing opinion, I guess I started drinking the cool-aid .

I will however download this toolset and have a play with them and try and figure out how they work, the only tutorials I could find on the new tools - is a guy with a think accent or speech problems and not altogether clear what he is saying. Still better than nothing and good to at least get a heads up for when they do go into full release.
