Udemy Playback Issues

I figured I’d let you guys know that as of the last few hours, some of the content over at Udemy seems borked.

I love using this site for the forums, but to be honest I love the fast forward/rewind buttons built into the Udemy player so I typically watch the videos there. I noticed tonight that some of the early videos in the RPG Dialogue & Quest courses are working fine, but where I am in the course has no video that plays. It sits at 0. (I am at Section 4). Randomly clicking lectures it seems like I can get them working back in Section 2, but no dice after that.

I am on Win10 Chrome 105. I did a C/C clear to be safe, as well as disabling ad blocker and trying an incognito window and they still won’t load. I work Tech Support for a living so I know there are many other variables at play here. Strangely, the videos do play in Edge. I am beyond baffled, but satisfied it may be a me problem. However, I just wanted to pass it along in case anyone else was having issues, too.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I checked the site and didn’t experience any anomolies, but that’s part of the fun of the internet. The issue could be a page not fully loading due to a dropped packet somewhere between Udemy’s server and your computer. It could be a glitch, regional issues, or any number of things. Is it working better today?

While our platform at GameDev.tv isn’t always perfect either (no such thing as a perfect server that’s never down and never gives you trouble, even if your parent company is Meta or Alphabet), you can always migrate your GameDev courses from Udemy to our servers at GameDev.tv by following this link: Migrate all of Your Udemy GameDev.tv Courses to GameDev.tv
This won’t remove your access to Udemy in any way, shape, or form. It simply gives you another tool to watch our video courses.

Oh yeah… I migrated here. I even just bought another Blender course over there and immediately went back and had it migrated here. You guys are the only courses I trust.

Like I said, I only prefer Udemy for the handy rewind/fast forward. Too many times I get distracted and want to just pop back a few seconds to see something again, and here you have to drag/click a spot and hope it is the right amount of time.

And since the videos work in Edge for me, it certainly is something on my end. Just so bizarre.
