Trying out something different

I’m going to try and make the floating island from Gorillaz’s music video Feel Good Inc.

I am facing a problem though. When I try to add solifidy modifies to the windmill, I get this weird something happening with the face (shown below)

When I switch off my solidify modifies, it looks okay.

I’m not sure why that’s happening. I’ve done this chapter with 2.7 so I’ll try a new route as the course progresses.

Check that area for vertex doubles and hidden inside faces.

Be sure your mesh is clean!

Nice project coming on well.

The door is small. I would also guess it is something odd about the mesh the modifier does not like. Perhaps an edit mode image might help spot something? See the topology.
