I made an earlier post here and found a few tools to quickly chop down your navmesh
In short you can create gameobjects that act as modifiers to your NavMesh so that when you bake it, the NavMesh looks like what you expect it to. I used the NavMeshModifierVolume in my post above and just discovered the NavMeshModifiers also exist for flat plane objects like the water Sam had us make. It’s easy to do and you can quickly trim down your game’s rough edges with the NavMeshModifier/Volume
The features in the above post are experimental in versions of unity pre 2022. The good news is 2022.3 just went LTS and I just switched over mid-course so you don’t even need to bother with experimental features anymore.
