Topology Advise

Hello,

I’m trying to get rid of the artifact/pinching that I’m getting at the corner.

I can only think of 2 topology approaches show in the attached images:

  1. (Image 1) Just straight loops, which is not good since it will tighten the vertical edge loop going down the edge
  1. (Image 2) The method that makes more since where there’s a pole to redirect the topology around the corner, but the issue is that this creates the pinching shown in the third image.

Any advise on how to approach this would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Best I can do. Make a high poly shrinkwrap target.

Copy of target on left. Copy of overlain geometry on right.
One shrunk onto the other Middle.

Smooth vertices?

This is an old post so I don’t know if this will be useful at this point but the proper way to do this would be to use Vertex Crease.

Vertex Crease and Edge Crease let you control how much the subsurface modifier “smoothing” affects your mesh on a particular set of verts or edges.

It lets you tighten up geometry without having to add extra loops or re-directing it.
