Too much shadow at bottom edge maybe for side light source

Not too sure about the side shadow effect. Should that be more strictly in the horizontal east-west direction? There is some shadow on the bottom which is okay I suppose, but is it too much (too thick) at the bottom edge I wonder?

Maybe it’s also the contrast. The dark wood and dark shadow do not work well I think.

Thank you for the feedback, I appreciate that. Ya, maybe if I chose a lighter hue for the wood then there would be more contrast like you said. Good point, thanks again.
