yesterday I couldn’t access unreal at all so I updated my macOS and Xcode
Then that is likely why, Unreal does not support software that came out after its release so it may work, it may not. I’d suggest trying UE 5.3

how can I download 5.3? Mine is 5.1 and I don’t see any option to install .3 version
You need to install as a new engine (use the + icon), you can’t update an existing engine installation to a new minor version, only patch versions i.e.
5.1 -> 5.1.1 - can update existing engine
5.1 -> 5.2 - need to install as a new engine version.
