When working in wireframe I find the default colours (dark grey on black) very difficult to see, so I altered the colours of the wireframe to make them more visible. Just go to Edit>Preferences>Themes>3D View and select Wire and Wire Edit giving you the usual colour picker and chose a colour that works for you and save the preference. I recommend you avoid colours similar to those already in use to avoid confusion, I chose a bright blue.
Much more visible IMHO
If at any point you would prefer black, for example if working on a white background, you can always temporarily change back using the same commands, just don’t save preferences.
