Tiles size

Hello, I was wondering what are good tile size for rendering on GPU.
I have Nvidia Gtx 1660 super
Now tile size dont show as before its just use tiling and single line of Tile size
Screenshot (3)

and There used to be an auto tile size adon in blender where did that go… I cant find that one
THANKS

Tile size depends on your project!
In the old Complete Blender course, there was a section, on how to determine the best tile size for your project. If was a trial and error approach. And it depended on the things you be doing in the process. But if I could remember correctly, since Blender 3 it’s less important (Blender optimizes it for you, I believe)

Having a fast GPU, doesn’t say you have the best computer for doing 3D work!

  • You need a fast CPU (not so many cores), high computing, for doing modeling (material nodes, animation, …)
  • You need a fast GPU for rendering (Cycles).

See Blender.org for performance tests, download a test run, change tile size, do test run, etc.

Cycles has changed. Been updated. I think it decides the optimal tile size for you. By having one number it presumably ensures squares are always used even if you set it yourself. I certainly now do not even think about it anymore!

Does the blender crash on rendering if the size is big

I was rendering a project and bpender kept crashing did everything i could think off eventually had to delete some objects and add simple one

And I was trying to render in 4k with 700 samples but downgraded it 2k with 1000 samples

Try to use the denoiser. With that you can go back to 4K and 256 Samples.

I think it is computer capacity. Memory, probably graphics card memory. I have had similar issues but my computer is old and dying. However as FedPete says you can render on much lower samples in most cases using the denoising options.
