Hi,
my little blob base got through a diet and lost some tris, he went from 6,048 to 1,400 
I used previews of 4 on the Bézier Curve and 7 on the Circle. Then done some cleaning by merging vertices of the middle inside the hole and on the bottom (I used remove doubles with a merge distance of 0.010 B.U.)

It lost its eyes in the process (Eyes were not in the Tris count) 
We can se that the self-casted shadow is a little different… Interesting
