The New Unity Course 2.0

Hello,

I was trying to get to Ben via email and Udemy but he didn’t respond yet.
So, I got an email telling me that there is a Unity Course 2.0 coming out soon and when I checked it out, it’s not complete yet.
So I was wondering what games/genres are planned to be covered?
Is Unity’s 2D Tiles editor going to be covered?
What about multiplayer networking?
@ben

Thanks

Hey Tarek

So the next project is a 2.5D Thrust clone, called Project Boost.

Then we’ll be covering…

  • A tower defence game
  • A 2D game using Unity’s new tile system
  • A first person game of some sort
  • More to be decided

Hello Ben,

Is it possible to cover AI for a simple chess like game?

Hi there, Chess-like or actual chess?

I am looking for a game to demonstrate Test Driven Development, this could be a good one. Do you have any other suggestions so I can compare ideas?

It would be great if it’s a chess game or a similar type (Advance Wars type).
I assume it would be made using 2D Tiles?

Thank you very much for the question.

I wish to learn how to make an AI (self-educating, non scripts) for a table games like chess.
May be smth like this: https://blogs.unity3d.com/2017/09/19/introducing-unity-machine-learning-agents/

  1. the chess game is probably too difficult for that reason
  2. ‘Tafl’ game is similar to chess game, but I believe simpler: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tafl_games . There is only one available movement left or right, like ‘rook’ in chess
  3. may be ‘monopoly’ like game? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monopoly_(game)

from 2d games:

  1. Dangerous Dave in the Haunted Mansion https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dangerous_Dave_in_the_Haunted_Mansion (a very simple AI  )
  2. R-Type https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R-Type

from 3d games:

  1. Wing-commander, but I remember similar game, but in tunnels instead of space https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wing_Commander_(video_game)
  2. Elite https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elite_(video_game)

There are a lot of really old games, I can think more, if you like the direction

Thanks for all the great suggestions :+1:t2: - here’s the link so you can see the syllabus (and add ideas)

If you’re not already on it, then join the course here - we’re adding new content on a weekly basis
