I spent a bit of time digging into the drag and drop thing today too and found a couple solutions.
I believe you might need to update Firefox so it works since I installed and used the latest version today and it worked just fine by default. Chrome on the other hand, I actually had to go into the chrome://flags and switch the “Preferred Ozone platform” to specifically use Wayland instead of X11 backend. I’m not sure why X11 is the default for Chrome when Wayland is the default for my system, but Linux, you know. 
Although, if you know how to switch your backend and you are on Wayland, switch it to Xorg (X11) and drag and drop to browser will work as normal.

The drag and dropped worked! seems like everything works today… Apparently, I have Xorg. Thanks for your help.
