i am currently following the course part that introduces discplacements.
i believe i have everything set up right. maybe i am missing something.
could you please take a look. after googling for a while i couldnt find an answer. i also redid the whole thing and it still doesnt work.
all of the textures are set to box and the non color are set as non-color-data. mapping is set to object.
the displacement and bumps is activated in the settings.
normal input fakes displacement and works best on tiny details. displacement input needs vertices to displace, the more the better but will slowdown the computer. See comment NP5.
I was not sure how much it needed so i added a subdiv modifier, put it to 4 and applied it but other than the texture nothing changed (not sure if applying was needed)
That one also didnt work so i decided to restart my computer.
This time it is working. I am not sure why, as i am not sure why it wasnt before. perhaps a bug?
But i am still glad to see that there was not an obvious flaw in my doing.
