Hello Ben, Rick, Yann, Mike, Sam and everyone,
I just realised I might have hijacked another topic there. Sorry, I’m not great with forums and posting.
I would like to join those who say that the courses are great. Buying them has been the best decision of my life.
Someone on discord mentioned they wished they were born in the old times. I wish I was born 25 years later.
Today it’s so much easier to make great games and find great assets. And most importantly we have the great community and tutorials of GAMEDEV.TV.
I started making games when I was 8-9 on our first Commodore64. I only had a language reference book in a foreign language, with limited information. In my time, to do something amazing and showcase it on your own was virtually impossible. So I spent years and years learning lots of different things, hoping I would get there. There were a number of hiatuses due to changing circumstances. Like not having a PC (PCs were not yet as easily accessible during my teens).
For example I worked a few times with 3D since the first version of 3DS Max. Most of my old work was lost during moving and other things, but here is an ear I made by looking in the mirror and feeling my ear with my hand nearly 20 years ago.
Made this ant model in 3DS Max around 15 years ago(FOV distorts it slightly).
They aren’t great, but show that when I say this has been a life long dream, I really mean it.
I really hope that now with my first game and the asset I’m working on, I can become self employed in this world, and perhaps with some hard work, in a few years I can say I made it.
I am now closer to my goal than I have ever been in my life, and that would have never happened without GAMEDEV.TV.
Again, thank you so much! I think I can safely say that I speak for many of us when I say you guys changed our lives for the better. I can’t wait to finish all the courses and am looking forward for the future ones.
Thanks!
