Taking parts of a game in these courses and using them in your own game

I’m not sure if this is the correct place to ask this, but does anyone know if you can take parts of the game that we make in the course (like the idea of project boost or parts of the tower defense game) and use them in our own games, or can they sue us for using parts of a game that they created.
