When I started watching this lecture and saw the challenge, I thought I had made my life way more difficult. Turns out I didn’t have to do anything different than what was described in the video.
Much to my own amazement, the driver based animations on the springs still worked after converting them to meshes, the sub bones that I use as hooks for the arm articulations worked just fine as is since they were properly made children of the correct bones. I was very happy to have not had a headache after the one I already went through for making the springs.
