Stretching with Alpha brushes

So I tried to do some more details on the clothing with Alpha brushes but with the chainmail I get some wierd stretching. Maybe someone can help and has an idea why this could be.

I use multiresolution modifier on the object and i tried form different angles with same results.

Might it be something to do with UV Unwrap?

I do not think it is the brush. It might be the amount of geometry it has to use to form the shapes, or the geometry is elongated quads or tris.

Yeah it seems to be the geometry. I think the overhang caused some problems. The Quads of the base mesh after I applied base in the multires mod looked a bit strange. I got rid of the overhang and now it works fine. Still hard to paint this even pattern around the object.
