Star Wars workbench scene

so over the last couple days in-between doing my lessons I thought I would try my hand at setting up a scene for my portfolio when i comes to applying for a 3d modeling job, just wondering is this good and what might it need if not to be better? thank you and looking forward to any and all advice as i put a lot of thought into this project .

It looks good, but you need to ask yourself what kind of 3D-modeling job you prefer. Is it modeling, or is it presentation (design)? Or Rigging, materials uv-mapping, … Because in big companies, you don’t do all things.
And the design is mostly done by people with other skills

What I see in your scene is mostly fantasy stuff. Studios and or companies using 3D artists are looking for realism. Try to make a realistic kitchen with equipment! Or a room full of furniture. Show diversity in your portfolio. Do many different projects. See where your strengths and weaknesses lie.

I’m thinking I want to make the models so in that case I wouldn’t have to go through coloring the objects or anything like that for my portfolio? glad to hear it looks good I thought maybe the differences in how the lightsaber pieces are made and the other items showed a bit of diversity in what I can do but I most certainly see were your coming from, I’m definitely going to be trying a kitchen scene I’m going to have to sit down here and try my hand at a couple more scenes. just wondering then is this still something good to through in my portfolio mixed with some other more realistic scenes?

good advice. Do you know how this art industry works? xxxx

Then it would be best if you showed that you mastered the high poly (sculpting, hard surface), to low poly process, with good clean mesh, etc.

so then continuing to do more complex models and basic ones is what I should be focusing on for making a portfolio?
