Instancing with geometry nodes based on proximity. Was going for a galaxy with little planets orbiting bigger stars, but the result looks more like fireworks.

It looks pretty good to me, not quite like A galaxy, but it looks like you found a good way to start making a firework.

If you wanted to lean into the firework look, you could make curves that start near the center and end on the large lights, then from the larger to the smaller lights. After that, you could give the curve some thickness with a curve to mesh node, and add an emission shader to it.
