Wasn’t expecting a display driver update to affect my system sound, but that is what happened - there was no audio after updating my GeForce GTX 1070 to version 416.34. I tried updating and reinstalling the audio drivers (which may have made a difference but didn’t ultimately appear to solve the problem). It was eventually resolved by going to sound under control panel and then selecting the properties for my speakers - under the levels tab, the input levels for my rear pink (headphone/microphone) jack had been muted. Undid that and sound started working again.
