I somehow can’t click on anything in the viewport. I checked the preferences and everything seemed okay, but when I downloaded 4.2, it’s still happening. I checked other projects and it worked, but on the file that I am working on right now, the selection simply turned “off”. What do I do?
It sounds like you might have turned your overlays off by mistake. They should be toggled on, like in this screenshot.
If this is not it, posting full screenshots and providing more information would be helpful.
Overlays are on man:
It’s just that when I click on anything in the viewport, the outliner doesn’t show that I selected anything.
Hm. You have the Box Select tool active, your Outliner shows that some of your Objects are selectable, you seem to be in an ordinary view - everything looks pretty normal at first glance, which is good. Except that your 3D Cursor is not in view, but you have a humanoid model, so it could just as easily be further down.
The only other thing I can think of that would cause this behaviour is in the Selectability and Visibility dropdown, two buttons left of the Overlays. In there, it’s possible to make Meshes (among other things) unselectable throughout the whole file, so it’s worth a look. Maybe others will have more ideas.
Just to let you guys know I used ChatGPT to find answers before asking you guys and it said nothing about that. You all put me out of a terrifying pickle. So, thank you.
Maxwell Smart moment!
But we got it =)
