I’m using blender v3.2.1 Every once in a while I am hitting a key and changing my selection tool from looking like a crosshair to looking like a crosshair with a dotted circle around it.
What button am I hitting to do this and how do I reverse it?

I suspect you are hitting W. It cycles through the various selection options. Hit it again a few times till it looks right again. Or open up the left hand toolbar with T, and the top icon when held down reveals the alternative selection types. You want to get back to ‘Select Box’.
