Selecting linked objects in edit mode

Hi! I’m following a tutorial on making tiles: the two pieces of tiles are linked duplicates. The youtuber was able to select both objects and put them in edit mode, but I can only select one object and go to edit mode, even if I shift select the 2 objects.

Any ideas on how to select both linked duplicated objects and switch to edit mode?

If you have LINKED DUPLICATES then there is only ONE editable object! The linked others, use the same mesh data, are virtual, and can’t be edited. You edit the original one, and the others (linked) will follow.

Are you sure that:

  • you don’t need just duplicates?
  • The linked duplicates are converted as single objects?
  • Don’t you need array modifiers?

Yeah I was following the tutorial (maybe he did duplicates instead of linked duplicates) but he first duplicate the object to make adjustment and then used array modifiers to add a punch of pieces. Thanks for the clarification!
