After creating the barn in edit mode, we create the posts still in edit mode. And the moment we unclick on the post, it looks like there is no practical way to select it only (i.e. select all) without also selecting the barn. So in order to select an entire post, we have to manually select every faces on the post. Is this right?
Well yes. But it is easy to select the posts alone if you need too. Pressing L for linked while hovering the cursor over each will do it.
It is also no real issue to make the posts in a different Object if you wish.
In edit
-mode you can use the ‘l’ (lowercase L) command to select Linked vertices of the post mesh. You ned to place the cursor nearby a vertice!
You can then (still in edit mode) use the ‘p’ command to separate the pole from the mesh as a separate object. Then in Object-mode you can duplicate the post multiple times.
You can then select all objects, posts, and barn and give command ‘j’ to join them again as a single mesh object. Ending with the same situation as you started with.
Have fun!
