Seeking Recommendations for Sound

Hey everyone!

I’ve been thinking a lot about how crucial sound design is in game development. It’s amazing how it can completely transform the feel of a game. It’s an area where I’m still finding my footing!

I’d love to hear from you all – where do you find your sound effects and music for your levels? Also, are there any particular programs or tools you’d recommend for learning or creating your own sounds? I’m all ears for any advice, tips, or resources you might be willing to share.

Hi Gepetto,

For beginners, I would recommend free open source tools such as Audactity and LMMS, and so on. You can buy software for serveral thousands of dollars but if you do not have any skills (yet), the results very likely won’t sound better than with cheaper or free software. Expensive software often comes with good sound libraries but you can purchase sound libraries yourself.

Since there is no universal answer to your question, I moved your thread to the Talk subforum, so other people will be able to share their experience, recommendations, tips and questions as well.
