Section 2 Lecture 25 Challenge (Plane)

Here’s the result of the lecture 25 challenge. I obviously went a bit beyond “block modelling”.

I use extruding in a number of places

  1. The front and rear wheels are built from extruded cylinders. Each extruded face is rescaled outwards to build up the width of the wheel. I did this to construct half the wheel. I then duplicated and flipped one of the halves to finish off the other side of the wheel.
  2. The bracket around the rear wheel was done using simple cube extrusion.
  3. The fuselage is built from another cylinder, which is then extruded and tapered down towards the tailend.
  4. For the wings, I started with a cylinder, and started extruding certain edges outwards to form the profile. I also joined certain vertices, since I had more than I needed to work with.

The only other thing of interest is the propeller blades. While extrusion wasn’t use, I did rotate the outer faces of the blades to give each blade a slight twist.
