There were a number of ways to get the job done as you all know. So I decided to simply make a video of how I did it quick. Take not on the bottom right hand corner you can see my keystrokes.

I did it the same way. I’ll just like this post, instead of creating one of my own

Now that was a stylish execution of the dissolve function.
I went with a rectangle, deleted vertices, then filled in three faces on edge select. Brutish, by comparison!
I went with the default cube, shift click the corner top vertices and delete. I then scale and move it to place.
