That is great. Getting involved in your creation makes it fun.
Your ‘lost in the background’ may be camera and/or view clipping. Both can have far and near distances set. View in the ‘N’ panel View tab. Camera, select it and look in it’s properties tab.

Random thought - the pennants point away from the camera, which makes them hard to see. Maybe rotate the camera 70-90 degrees around the castle or hire a weather witch to change the direction of the wind?
