Hello I had a bit of issue in terms of inspiration of what to create as my model using just primitives or techniques learned throughout the first section.
I may update this topic with something else I think I can make with primitives/techniques learned so far. However I have created a Nintendo Switch (it’s in front of me so I used that as a challenge to make). My only issue I couldn’t do the rounded parts of the joycons, as i’m out of touch with Blender and the GUI is a bit confusing until we get to find out where everything else is for 2.80 I made it very… blocky.
I don’t feel the lighting is as good as well, on my end the point light starts at 1000w, reducing it to ‘10w’ makes it very dim/barely produce any light. Do I need to change a setting to change the format of the measurement for the lights?
Regardless, had fun making this. May come back to this topic and make something else.
Afaik, with 2.8 the Wattz is the new mesure for the light objects in eevee and cycles as well.
The developers made a great job making them really match in intensity. So if you use just light objects and switch between engines they will look much more alike.
Don’t know if it’s configurable somewhere.
Thanks for your reply. I wondered about the format of wattz (mainly the figures) because I believe in the lecture Michael accesses the lights menu and it starts at 10w. Meanwhile when I went into it (I feel he may of been using an older iteration of 2.80) I got it starting at 1000w.
Regardless, look forward to using it more later, especially if it’s been enhanced from older versions of Blender. I don’t think I can push my PC much to use the cycle render engine due to my PC being pretty old and some parts are struggling to do some basic things even outside of blender, so I had only shown the above challenge in Eevee rather then showing the model under both engines.
