My attempt at making a can, but for some reason the two objects I made (The can, and the Pop tab) became merged as one object so it was a little tricky, but still fun!
It is possible that you did a “add mesh” while in Edit-Mode. That catches me out all the time.
When you add a mesh in Edit-Mode it becomes part of that object. To keep it as a separate object you need to add the mesh while in Object-Mode.
If you have cats, it is also a known fact that they can sometimes press Ctrl-J when you’re not looking. True story.
Michael does cover this scenario in the lectures, so keep watching TL;DW: When you want to manually undo accidentally joined objects way after the fact, you can select a vertex on that object, press L to select the linked vertices, and then choose “Separate” in the Mesh menu. If you have merged any vertices between the 2 objects, then you will need to delete those vertices and then add those vertices in again manually for each object after separating as usual.
