Scaling the top of the pyramid

Hello,
I tried to scale top of the pyramid by selecting faces with Alt key and pressing S.
I also used Shift Z to limit on Z axis. Unfortunately it is not scaling all around. It looks like this:

What am I doing wrong here? I also did extrude with 0, but that didn’t make any difference.
Thanks

Hello!
First: undo you changes if you can, save often)
Pay attention to pivet point -> in this place you will go with offset, scale
Look at you mode in wireframe mode - maybe not all the faces are selected, so there is a displacement

In the beginning it is not clear, but only figuring it out will help you in the future)

PS
It is often easier to figure out with new scene, everything is defaulted and works as intended, so you can exclude any settings

That was it.
Pivot point was set to 3D cursor. 3D cursor was far away from the pyramid.
I changed pivot point to the middle of the selected area and everything is good.

Thanks a lot.

I ran into the exact same problem today and in my case the problem was that I had Automatically merge vertices moved to the same location activated. I don’t remember having done that myself and for someone with experience this may look silly, but for someone just starting like me could take a while to figure out.

You activate and deactivate this option by clicking the two arrows facing each other button in the header of the 3D View.

Hope this helps.
