Satellite repair simulator

Here’s my version of Project Boost!

The idea is that the player is flying a satellite into a space station to be repaired.

There are 5 levels in total, and you start in space and then fly into various areas of the space station. There are variations in the mechanics as you progress through the levels, for instance the presence of drag in the pressurised portion of the space station, and in the final level, the presence of gravity.

Very much liking the sound of this and what I am seeing, the level with the rocket flying out is a nice feature, well done

I agree with Rob. But the fact you can leave the screen is something i like less.

Thanks for playing through! Yeah I agree that the fact that the game boundary is significantly beyond the screen edge is a problem. I think using invisible box colliders should be able to solve the problem.

There might be some other ways you could achieve this and have it part of the story of the game.

Just off the top of my head… you could have a laser defence grid on the edges of the screen, perhaps these satellites have become self aware, some of their pilots feel their plight and may help them to escape, so the corporation have fitted laser defence grids so prevent their escape.

Or, in a similar vein, if the satellite gets to close to the edge of the screen, have the screen flash red (transparent), activate a siren, and then have the satellite blasted by laser fire from the corporation, again, in their attempt to fix the issue, not let the satellites leave.

Same concept as the box colliders, but something like this, something visible, may add to the story of your game and make the invisible wall less noticeable.

Thanks, that’s a really creative idea! Reminds me of the way the Borderlands games constrain the players, with their gun turrets at the edge of the map which shoot players when they cross the boundary. I’m definitely putting this in my to-do list!
