As an alternate to reset the position or typing the numbers directly, you can also press ALT or Command on Mac when you are pressing shift to scale the object in the center instead of the corner.
Hint: If you have the problem, that you cant assign the sprite, its possible, that the Sprite Mode is on Multiple. It has to be Single to work.
