I think that using preexisting scripts and what not is what is normal in the “real world”. However, based on the content here being used as a learning tool, my preference would be to minimize existing scripts and write everything on our own to really learn how things work.
One can be too dependent on 3rd party assets I feel as a developer, and having to write your own pieces in the beginning really help you understand what’s going on better I think.
