Request for a New Course: Top‑Down GTA‑Style 2D Game in Unity

,

Hi GameDev.tv team! I’ve been following your courses for a while now, and I just want to say how incredibly happy I am with the way you teach. My skills have been growing at a crazy pace thanks to you, and I’m finally feeling confident with Unity and coding.

There’s just one thing I’ve never been able to find on Udemy… and I would absolutely love if you were the ones to create it.

I’m talking about a Unity 2D (or 3D top-down style) course focused on making a top‑down game inspired by GTA Chinatown Wars or the classic early GTA titles. Why this kind of project? Because I’m really passionate about coding, and I’ve always been super curious about how games like these handle things such as:

  • entering and exiting vehicles

  • picking up items, weapons, medkits

  • switching between indoor and outdoor areas

  • managing interactions in an open‑world‑style environment

Of course, I’m not asking for a violent game. It could be something family‑friendly — toy weapons, coins instead of money, fun interactions — but with the same underlying mechanics that make those games so fascinating from a programming perspective.

I truly believe a course like this would massively boost the skills of students like me who want to deepen their understanding of gameplay systems and feel more confident with coding. Every time I think about GTA‑style games I wonder: “How did they build all of this?” And I’d love to finally learn how to create something similar.

I’m not demanding anything — I’m just a programmer addicted to learning and curiosity haha. But honestly, if you ever made a course like this, I’d be the first to buy it. And if it came from you, it would be absolutely amazing, because you’re the best at explaining coding concepts clearly and effectively.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my request. From a passionate coding and videogame lover — keep being awesome!

P.S. If this isn’t the right section for this kind of topic, please feel free to let me know. And if it would be more appropriate to send this request via email, I’ll be more than happy to do that instead.
