15 minutes is not a lot… and both 256x256 and 128x128 are EXTREMELY low resolutions.
I’m working on a 60 second animation (30fps) with a dancing character on a spotlighted stage, and at 1200 x 1920 (100%) and 7000 samples, it took me about two days to render everything (pausing overnight of course), and this is with a GPU (left me with like 2gb of png pics).
So the render times you’re showing are normal for a rig like yours… and depending on how good of a quality you want in your finished product, I’d recommend rendering at a higher resolution and sample rate and just patiently waiting it out.
If you want to “preview” your work with a rough render, there are tricks you can do such as turning off certain light setting and of course rendering it at a low resolution and sample rate.
P.s. by pausing I mean (and this only works for animations that are rendered frame by frame) whenever you’re finished rendering for the day, you cancel your render and whenever you want to start again, just set your render to begin from the last frame that was rendered out (there should be a folder with all the frames render out individually).
well the 256x256 and 128x128 is just the tile sizes for rendering, the renders are 1080p(1920x1080) at 50% and was using the BMW file that was unzipped at the beginning of the lecture
well when I open the BMW file up it shows 20 samples, which seems really low, I have done some renders with 500-1000 samples and took about 20 mins, so not sure if this file just has alot going on in it to take that long or what, still new to this and saving up to build my own custom computer at some point
