Im currently working on an animation , which i’ve split over 5 scenes.
I made a new scene each time making a Full Copy of the previous one.
When I came to render the scenes, it shows nothing.
I did notice that with each new scene it created a new camera , ie camera.001 , camerea.002 etc.
Also I changed the start and end frames for each scene ie 1-250, 251-700 etc
Creating the new scene copies, I suspect you should delete the start up camera, light, cube. Before adding the copy scene in. That would explain why the camera got added .001. As the copied in scene was set up to use the original camera name, the renaming probably meant when you ran the render it used the default original camera.
Why do you not just do the shots one after the other in the original file? Or save numbered identical versions of it then set each one to each shot?
I dare say others more familiar with animation will be along with other ideas. Some images help a lot to get answers to problems.
This question prompted me to do some research about this topic as well as I stumbled upon similar issus in the past (and brute force them at that time). And made me realize that I was stupid when rendering my low poly month from 30+ files by hand, some having multiple scenes set up.
Seems that you can also use command line to render multiple scenes (and I think multiple files as well):
I thought Marcs reply would be the answer to my problem, I recall having to use multiple cameras in an earlier part of the course, So I selected my scene , set the camera as the active camera and hit F12 to render out an image , BUT still nothing. I just end up with a grey checkered pattern in the render view. I even tried deleting the camera and adding in a new one , still not joy. Im stumped
Additional info.
Okay so instead of just trying to render out the individual scenes, I took the last scene which has all the previous scenes in it.
When I try and render out the animation I notice two things.
The first scene frames 1 to 210 render out really quickly , obviously using the png’s from a previous render
As soon as it hits frame 211 I just get the checkered pattern in the render window
I hope this additional information helps sorting out my issue
Can you run a test using the same technique in a new blend file with just a cube and a cone off to one side (Its so its easier to tell if the camera switches) and then add a secondary camera and try it.
I had this problem and others too. But I forgot what the problem was. Maybe try to search in the older forum messages.
Does frame 211 have any render data?
I think also, your project management solution is a bit advanced or too complex to see al the ins and outs. Many things can go wrong, or looking at the wrong scene or camera …
Normally you have a lot of .blend files with stuff. And a master .blend file using linked library items.
I managed to work out the issue.
It’s a user error rather than a blender issue.
I found that when I created the first copy I had a clip in the video editor, which then got copied across to the new scenes.
I didn’t spot it because I’d deleted the clip from the video editor after I’d made the scenes.
Soon as I removed the clip , then the renders started working again.
