My GPU was significantly faster than my CPU.
My best time was 59.96 seconds with Tiles: 512, 512.
The best CPU time I clocked was 3 minutes 37 seconds with Tiles: 64, 64. I didn’t try anything lover than that on the tiles.

Nice! I have the GTX 1060 and it rendered my chess scene pretty much instantly. The CPU wasn’t slow but it did take about 15 seconds whereas the GPU was just no wait time at all.
This is really really good to learn about now.
The time I give is for the BMW’s. I’m pretty sure it would render the chess scene instantly as well.
Didn’t you render the chess scene in Blender Render? If so, you didn’t render it on your GPU. Blender Render doesn’t support CUDA, so you rendered it on your CPU unless you used cycles for that too. Just wanted you to know
To be fair, when I made that first comment I hadn’t hit the lecture yet
about rendering the BMW or where it discussed cycles. I made that comment a
bit preemptively in other words.
