I experimented quite a bit…
on my system with an i5 processor with 4 cores it takes between 4 and 5 min to do a 960540 render (19201080@ 50%)
the best I got was 4:58.49 with 48*54 tiles. I found that proportional tiles were faster, this is 1/20 on the x axis and 1/10th on the Y axis; this seemed to the the best I could get out of the cpu.
gpu times:
the best time I got was : 1.57.80 with 240 * 540 tiles.
which was an improvement from the 480*540 that I thought was initially my best time of 2:0.80
just because I run 4k I just thought I would check how long it would take…

well not going to render any 4k movie on my system anytime soon… @24 frames a second it would be 15.5 hours rendering per second of video… for a full hour of 4k video I would need 38.75 render days… and that’s why render farms exists…
