Reminder: Save as first, edit later

Well, I did a newbie mistake and saved over my male character while editing it for the female one. If you’re a person who saves a lot while working, either save as first, or duplicate your mesh and then edit.

Something I also learned is to save a copy of something before making a major edit that saved me the hassle of undoing everything and i can just “revert” back to a neutral state.

Blender, by default, saves the overwritten version to .blend1.
Change the name and extension and you should recover the previous version.

This behavior can be adjusted, see preferences.

Also when saving, you can add a version number to the files. See [-],[+] buttons next to the file name.
