Question on selling my game

So, I bought the Unreal Course that was semi recently on sale, the one with the obstacle course, crypt, fps, and tank games. My question is simply, is there anything wrong with me attempting to sale my versions of one of these? I am using free unreal assets so that isn’t a problem, however, I didn’t know how it would work since some of the code I am indeed using that is from the lecturerer. However, I already knew how to code in c++, the reasoning for buying the course was to learn Unreal Engine itsself and the Unreal c++ API. So, the reason I bring that up is because most of the code is my own, the game is much more than what it ends on with the lecturer (My own levels, my own added functions, doesn’t yet, but will hopefully have music/menu/etc.) So, can someone give me clarification on this? Am I ok to try to sell my game that may have a few things I did snag from the lecturer, specifically in the beginning of the course?

Hi msilvers73,

As @DanM has mentioned all the code that you have typed in is yours, Think of it like using a coding book the author does not hold the rights to anything you type into the computer only the rights to the book itself.
We do encourage students to not release games that are a direct carbon copy of the course game as if everyone did this then nobody would sell anything as the games are all the same. If you diverse as much as you can from the section to make the game your own adding different features and game mechanics beyond what is taught then your game will sell better.

I believe the unreal free assets are free to use but in any assets case its always a good idea to read the licensing attached to those to cover yourself just in case

Hope this helps.

All the best
Marc

@Marc_Carlyon Thank you guys for the clarification! And @Marc_Carlyon, It is def not a carbon copy, and by the end it will be much more. I kind of just got inspired to take it a lot further, not even really intending to potentially sale it, but the more I worked on it the more I thought about it, and just wanted to get clarification before really committing everything towards it. But thank both of you guys for the reply! One positive thing is, if I were to sell it, and get a decent return (im not expecting it to be some AAA title, and pricing would be like 2-5$), but if it were to sell decently, I would most certainly be spending some of that on more courses here as this one was great!
