Question about scene statistics (bottom status bar)

Hello,

curious about the scene statistics and the number of triangles/faces/etc mentioned now and then in the videos … In blender 3.1+ this no longer shows the tris of the selected but always the sum of the entire scene.
Is there a way to make blender count my current selection only?
Having to hide the entire view except one object to get the count feels… tedious

Edit mode does the selected.

Right mouse click on the bottom right, version number. A menu popup, select statistics.
