Question about ingame environments

When I’m building an environment in a 3D game using an engine such as Unity, would I typically create the terrain within the engine and use Blender to create any additional models such as houses that I may need? Or would I want to create most of the environment including the terrain in Blender (or any other 3D software)?

Is there an industry standard for this kind of thing?

*Assuming I’m creating my own assets

Might be worth asking in the game engine community.

Typically you would create the terrain using Unity’s terrain tools and then add objects you’ve made in Blender to the scene.

Additionally there are quite a few fantastic tools to help you create terrains/landscapes found on the Unity Asset store… these include features for improved performance such as streaming.
