Having fun with the pyramid. Dont understand lighting much yet, and image is noisy. Either way I am happy with I am capable of making so far and excited to learn more.

Hi there, does anyone knows why I cannot inset faces the same way following the course instructions? I can see in the video when mike inset by 1met thickness it works but when i inset by 1met thickness it disappears the face

this way my pyramid.

This type of question is already answered on this forum!

But basically, your Blender cube has the Blender dimension of one!
But it’s cube size is two!
See the blender size of one, as the radius of the cube. So RADIUS of 1 leads to a cube dimension of 2 by 2 by 2.

Insetting using a value of blender unit one. Means you end in the middle of the cube.
Cube is 2 dimensions, inset left with one, inset right with 1 = 0 in the middle.

You probably forgot to scale the cube by a factor of 5 . Make 10, so the inset on one makes sense.
Or forgot to apply the scale, after increasing the size.

insead of 1 give 0.1

I had the same kind of issue and found a way to scale the inset (.1m) instead of 1m, which worked.

. Why is the unit of measure in “thickness” different than in other parts of Blender? That is confusing. OK, I FIGURED IT OUT! I forgot to Apply Transforms after scaling the first cube, which left the cube X 10, which is why the inset thickness had to be 1/10 of that. One I applied the transform, it all worked correctly.

We, me, too, forgot to Apply Transforms after scaling the first cube, which left the cube X 10.
