I utilized the blocks to, well, block enemies from the players point of view. Once a player gets close enough, an enemy will ambush the player unless they’re careful. There’s also a fork where a player can choose whether to fight lots of enemies or take the long way and sneak up on them.
I’ve come up with ideas for flying enemies (can’t be attacked by melee weapons), a simple blocking defense mechanic (wears down the longer you keep it up), and enemies with a strong attack that can break through that block instantly.
