Problems using the bezier curve to create the lampshade

When I have the circle beveled to the curve, changing the curve changes the mesh as expected, except for every 10 blender units I move the curve the mesh moves one. I can still create the mesh, I just have to move the curve extremely far out. I’ve had this happen before on other models, but it’s getting worse. Is there a way to make it so that the lampshade scales 1:1 with the curve?

I’ve included a picture showing how far I have to move the curve.

If you change the radius of both items in the operator screen when creating them (I used 0.08) instead of scaling them once they have been created then you can avoid this problem. I had the same issue but stumbled on the answer by accident. Hope this helps.
