So i just finished posting but for some reason it doesnt show up here but if i check on my activity i see it. I dont want to get in trouble for double posting but idk why it didnt show up here
Can you provide the URL of your topic please Jayy.
That post is appearing correctly. You posted it under the Show sub-category as opposed to Ask.
Oh it had to be Asked to show up in the community discussion? kinda counter intuitive but how to i switch it so ask and have it appear on the community discussion for people to try?
I’m sorry Jayy I don’t understand.
The Ask sub-category isn’t where you ask if your post can go somewhere, it’s just where you post your questions.
If you don’t have a question and your topic is just a general conversation, then you’d post under Talk.
If you are showcasing something you have worked on, and again it isn’t a question, you’d post it under Show.
Make sense?
My question is why isnt this shown in the discussion for people to see when i made it a new topic?
It is/was, it needs moving back out of Ask to Show now though.
I suspect you are referring to the summary view of Latest posts aren’t you, e.g. you can’t see it there, if however you click on the Show sub-category link you will see a list of all topics in that area, you topic will be there (once moved back).
See how the discussion we are having has a place where it was published on at the top right of this section
and then the one i published isnt marked to anywhere
I have just moved it back to Show.
Do you mean top-left?
yeah sorry top left. 32_pb_cu2.
the only reason i found it was because i went on my profile and looked in my activity
Ok, so looking at those details, it goes like this;
Category / Sub- Category / Optional Tag
The first two are more important.
If you want to add a tag, for a specific lecture that you’re posting your work about you can, by adding a tag, although be aware that tags are currently in a state of flux as the forum changes are taking place. Whether Ben has completed this process yet I do not know.
People will see your post under Show from the left hand navigation, e.g the sub-category under the main category Unity.
Ah that worked. And for the tags ill just post in different places like discord and stuff for more feedback. Thanks Rob
Please don’t duplicate your post (on the forum), there is no need to. I delete duplications and I don’t need the extra work
Not on here. Discord or other pages is wt i meant.
Ah I see yes, that’s cool, ideally use the URL from your post here in the forum and link people back to it.
Consider engaging and topic titles with a high level of readability also. Avoid suffixes/prefixes and keep the main description in the body of the post.
Images and video need to be placed on new lines without any preceding characters in order to embed. Files over 10MB will not be successfully uploaded so in those cases consider using services like Google Drive, Dropbox, and YouTube etc.
so if i have large clips like 20 seconds or more then uploading them on youtube will work?
Sure, record them, upload them to your YouTube channel (be wary of the names/text in descriptions), then just copy/paste the URL of the video from YouTube into your topic here and the video will be embedded, users can just click play to watch it without leaving the forum.
