You wouldn’t graph distance travelled vertically & horizontally in a graph like that. The bottom axis has to be an independent variable, such as time. You could however graph them both vs time, to see whether you travel more vertically than horizontally. If you then get a map and read the graph you would get what’s displayed in the post.
