Poetic Space Ballad

Game: A rail shooter where you control a maneuverable spaceship avoiding enemy ships and the lasers they are shooting at you

Theme: The armada of an evil race of aliens have arrived hell-bent on conquering the planet and making its inhabitants slaves to them. They are decimating the planets defenses with only little resistance.

That’s where you come in. You are a relatively unknown starship captain with a modest crew of degenerates such as yourself. It just so happens your crew was on this very planet with plans for all sorts of debauchery. Here come these alien freaks to screw it all up. Now usually you would just high-tail it out of there as fast as your thrusters would let you, but you feel something inside your gut. A presence you’ve not felt in…well, ever. A sense of heroism overcomes you, you decide to stay and defend this hopeless planet. With a bit of convincing your crew that the Planetary Government would probably be reward us for helping or some-such nonsense, you hop in your ship and prepare to give these alien ******** the fight of their lives.

  • 4-5 members of your crew (possible annoying/funny robot member?)
  • Each member of the crew will have commentary from time to time when you do things like blow up enemy, take damage, or kill a boss
  • Each crew member will also have a special ability you can use
  • The tone and music of the game will be ironically light-hearted and energetic despite the seriousness of the situation

My inspiration for this games theme came from things like: Star Wars, Guardians of the Galaxy, Spaceballs
