It’s really confusing concept. What is the difference between the mesh and object? if we create a linked duplicate of an object in “object mode” and add an mesh in “edit mode” than both ( the linked duplicate and the added object ) behaves opposite towards the original object we have created. Explain this clearly pointwise will be a great help.
Think of it more like, the objects are what makes up the scene, and the mesh of the object is what gives individual objects the shape, color, and texture that we see when they are finished.
But maybe Blender can explain it better.
Linking operates much the same way, individual objects in object mode can be manipulated individually even though they are linked. Edit mode is where the link comes in to edit them the same say so they still resemble each other. An example of where this would come in handy is in the game asset section. In it, we build a building or room using pieces. The pieces are linked so each piece will not have to be edited individually in case something needs to be changed later in the project.
It should start to make sense as you gain more experience in Blender. I’d suggest reading the duplication section of the Blender manual just so you have a clearer picture of what duplicate does.
Thanks for the help.It means a lot for a beginner like me.Very well explained.
